Zensors and TSA deploy physical AI to automate checkpoint efficiency & improve passenger experience

Zensors AI has partnered with the Transportation Security Administration to provide its Physical AI platform to automate the capture of critical passenger throughput data at security checkpoints to improve operational efficiency and enhance the passenger experience by providing a TSA Real Time Wait Time. Physical AI is now being used to augment processes in real time using advanced metrics like time taken to screen a passenger’s bag, the number of passengers processed every minute and search rates, and provides TSA headquarters with a live situational view across airports.

TSA Establishes Real Time Wait Time Program

With the proliferation of screening technologies and configurations, capturing the necessary rates and standards data that define the staffing and security equipment requirements across checkpoints nationwide has become increasingly complex. TSA released a solicitation to competitively procure an innovative, commercial product to automate this process.

Following a highly competitive RFP process, TSA awarded a contract to Zensors whose Physical AI solution and AI Agents are already used across airports worldwide. The Zensors Physical AI platform called Hologram leverages existing airport security cameras to provide real-time visibility on passenger flow and deliver insights and recommended actions such as opening and closing security lanes, helping TSA and airport staff make data-driving decisions to optimize operations and reduce passenger wait times.

"We are thrilled to partner with TSA on this transformative initiative," said Anuraag Jain, CEO of Zensors. "Our Physical AI platform enables the rapid deployment of AI Agents to modernize TSA checkpoints, helping TSA advance its capabilities nationwide by automating data collection and providing continuous, accurate insights.”

TSA has established  "TSA Real Time Wait Time" requirements, a standardized way for airports to provide predicted and historical wait times for passengers from queue entry to exit. Airports using an AI solution such as Zensors AI that meets the specific Functional Requirements will be authorized to display the official TSA Real Time Wait Time mark indicating that they are delivering the most accurate and best passenger experience through security checkpoints.

Boston Deploys Real Time Wait Time

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) has deployed the Zensors AI platform across all of its security checkpoints and has "TSA Real Time Wait Time" available to customers. The Physical AI solution is already showing early impact on real-time situational awareness and has enabled proactive planning of the summer travel and events.

“Providing our passengers with a smooth and predictable travel experience is a top priority for Massport,” said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. “We are proud to have some of the lowest wait times in the country. Through making wait times live and easily accessible, we’re providing passengers with another tool in order to plan their travels and navigate the airport with ease.” (Massport Press Release, May 11, 2026)

Enhancing the Passenger Journey

Uncertainty amplifies anxiety; transparency restores control.   At Zensors, we understand the complexities airports face in providing a seamless and stress-free experience for passengers, especially during major events like the FIFA World Cup. Travelers often grapple with uncertainties about departure timing and security wait times, which can disrupt their journey and increase anxiety.

The Zensors Journey Planner provides real-time visibility to passengers on the estimated wait times at each checkpoint based on historical data and real-time insight of airport operations.  Whether it is on the airport website, the MyTSA mobile app, or the Flight Information Displays, providing this wait time information within the tools travelers already depend on, effectively reduces anxiety during crucial moments like security checkpoint navigation - a particular benefit for families and international travelers.

Happier, less stressed passengers also greatly impacts the airport with smoother operations and stronger non-aeronautical revenue as reassured passengers shop and dine at a much higher rate.

Zensors is actively working with several other major airports to deploy the Hologram solution to support TSA’s new Real Time Wait Time program that not only improves airport and TSA operations, but also delivers a consistent and enhanced passenger experience.
